VDOT Highway Alerts for the week of February 23 - March 2

VDOT Highway Alert

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Richmond District has released its forecast of road construction/closures that could cause delays from February 23 - March 2, 2018.

Goochland County Administrator Presents Proposed Fiscal Year 19 Budget

FY2019 County Administrators Proposed Budget - Cover

Goochland County Administrator John A. Budesky has proposed a $89.4 million County Budget for Fiscal Year 2019 beginning July 1.

The County General Fund budget at $53.1 million represents a $2.7 million
or 5.3% increase from the current year. No tax rate changes are proposed.

Virginia Department of Forestry - 4:00 PM Burning Law In Effect

The Virginia Department of Forestry's 4:00 PM Burning Law is in effect from February 15 through April 30th.

The 4:00 PM Burning Law specifies:

  • No burning until AFTER 4:00 p.m. February 15 through April 30 of each year, if the fire is in or within 300 feet of woodland, brushland or field containing dry grass or other flammable material.

Peterson, Alvarez to lead Goochland County Board of Supervisors in 2018

Goochland County - Peterson Alvarez to lead in 2018

The Goochland County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 to elect District 5 Supervisor Ken Peterson as chairman and District 2 Supervisor Manuel Alvarez, Jr. as vice-chairman for 2018.

Peterson is serving as the board’s chairman for the second time.  He most recently held the post in 2013.  He succeeds District 3 Supervisor Ned S. Creasey in the position.
