Currently, Goochland County Animal Protection has 24 dogs available for adoption and is working with area rescue organizations to place the dogs prior to the shelter relocation on Monday, July 2nd. Individuals interested in adopting animals can contact the Animal Shelter by calling (804) 556-5302.
Goochland
County formally broke ground on the new Animal Shelter on August 1st,
2017. Built in collaboration with
Goochland Pet Lovers, the modern facility will incorporate a shelter, adoption,
care, and education center far surpassing the size of the existing Animal
Shelter. Planning for the project began
in January 2015.
Better
oriented on the site of the existing Animal Shelter, the new Animal Shelter is
designed to meet the needs of Animal Protection for the next 20+ years. Estimated completion of construction and
opening of the facility is anticipated for late 2018.
