[ARCHIVED] Qualified Voters in Election District 4 Invited to Express Interest in Filling Interim Role

Qualified voters in Election District 4 can do so by completing the application available on the County’s website at: https://www.goochlandva.us/formcenter/boards-and-commissions-13/boards-and-commissions-application-56. All individuals seeking consideration are invited to submit their application by 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022.

Interim Appointment, Board of Supervisors, District 4

The Board of Supervisors will be making this appointment at its meeting on November 1, 2022. The person appointed shall exercise all powers of the office and shall serve until the qualified voters elect a representative through General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, and the elected candidate has qualified.

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body that oversees the operation of county government and has legislative, executive, and quasi-judicial powers that implement and, as necessary, refine the local application of state law and public policy. The Board of Supervisors collectively is responsible for the adoption of an annual budget outlining the expenditures of all branches of the County on a fiscal-year basis, capital improvement plans, county policies, programs and projects for transportation, the environment, land use, health care, human services, housing, economic development and many other services that directly impact all county residents and businesses, approve or reject land use proposals, and make appointments to various authorities and commissions that serve county residents and businesses. The Board also appoints the County Administrator and County Attorney to provide professional oversight to day-to-day county operations.

The Board of Supervisors meets a minimum of one time monthly; additionally, Board members participate in countless committee, constituent, and other related functions.
