Dr. Arthur Gilbert Blakey was born on March 8, 1888, in Barboursville, VA. He graduated from Virginia State College and later earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. Starting in 1918, he dedicated 45 years to practicing medicine across Goochland, Fluvanna, and nearby counties.
Known for his selflessness, Dr. Blakey often treated patients pro bono, with some offering produce in gratitude. His unwavering service and compassion left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Dr. Blakey passed away in 1963, but his legacy endures. He was both a role model and mentor to many, including the late Dr. James Harold Bowles, Sr.
