The internet in this area is atrocious and the people in this area are essentially left at the hands of horrible businesses like HughesNet and ViaSat. I would like to make this county my home, but I can't justify raising children in an area that they won't have decent, reliable internet access in. These days internet is heavily relied on to accomplish learning while not at school, how would my kids be able to do a research paper at home if every time they search a topic it takes minutes for one page to load? And don't forget if they have to watch something for their research, they'll never get that done.
Or even now before having kids, my wife and I can't come home from work and enjoy watching any shows on Netflix without it pausing every few seconds.
It's hard for a everyday citizen to get their voices heard by large companies, you'll just have a phone operator shoot you done - we need a large organization like our government to step in, take control, and help us.

I appreciated the opportunity to participate in the Goochland Courthouse Village planning. I was struck by the median income of $92.000+ but must remember that the income is for the residents of the village and not for the entire County.
The Goochland Courthouse village is the center for county government and health services (eg. Goochland Cares). Even though the median income is high (relatively speaking) we must be cognizant of our citizens who live at or below the poverty level and are coming to the village to use these services. We need to make sure that we design a village that is inclusive to all residents of Goochland and not those who are fortunate to live within the boundaries of the charming village that it currently is and will be in the future.
