Temporary Ashland Road/I-64 Interchange Improvements
About While significant improvements for the Ashland Road/I-64 Interchange are planned to start in 2027, Goochland County is working closely with VDOT to provide immediate solutions to ease traffic flow and reduce congestion.
Planned Improvements:
Temporary stop light at the eastbound I-64 ramp to alleviate congestion before the interchange improvements are completed Adding an additional lane to the westbound I-64 ramp to ease flow of traffic at the interchange Motorists are advised that road construction will be taking place in the area. While every effort will be made to minimize disruptions, the following traffic impacts can be expected:
Brief traffic impact during daytime hours Nightly closures to accommodate construction Single-lane closures with flaggers to direct traffic during work hours

The new lane to the I-64 westbound ramp is complete! The additional lane will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on Ashland Road!
The new traffic signal has been installed at the I-64 eastbound ramp! The new traffic light will alleviate congestion and increase safety on Ashland Road.
