Goochland Community Action Program
Cares Act Relief for Utility, Rent and Mortgage
The Goochland Community Action program administered by Goochland Social Services is accepting applications from Goochland residents that have fallen behind on their mortgage, rent, electric, propane, oil, kerosene (or other heating source) bill as a result of an economic hardship due to COVID-19. Funds are limited.
To be eligible for funds under this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a resident of Goochland and earn 200% of less of the Federal Poverty level
- Have experienced/been impacted by an economic hardship due to COVID-19
- Have fallen behind on a mortgage, rent, electric, propane, or kerosene bill for services on or after March 1, 2020.
- Have not received any other form of CARES Act relief or financial assistance including funds from Rebuild VA grants.
To request an application:
- Call 804-556-5880 between 8:30a.m.-4:30p.m. Monday-Friday and an application will be mailed to you.
- Pick up an application at 1800 Sandy Hook Road, Suite 200, Goochland, Virginia 23063.

Completed applications will be processed in the order in which they were received in our office until all dedicated funds are exhausted.

Goochland Community Action
FOOD VOUCHER PROGRAM
1. This program is offered by the Goochland Community Action Program.
If you receive free and reduced lunch, you automatically qualify for this
program. Once we receive your application and your eligibility is
confirmed by school nutrition, the first voucher will be mailed to you at
the address listed on your application.
2. The voucher must be used at the Food Lion located at 2724 Fairground
Road, Goochland, Virginia 23063.
3. You may receive a voucher every 30 days. To request another voucher,
call (804) 556-5880. Each voucher will be mailed to you.
4. We will operate this program as long as we have the funds to do so.

Mission Statement
The Goochland Department of Social Services provides services ranging from protective services for children, aged and disabled to employment services. The department is also responsible for the administration and operation of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid/FAMIS Programs, and Energy Assistance Programs. Information and referral services are available to all citizens.
Medicaid Expansion
Virginia will begin accepting applications for Medicaid Health Coverage on November 1, 2018. General Information is available at coverva.org or by calling 1-855-242-8282

Goochland Community Action Program
This is a local program for Goochland County residents. Families can receive a total of $500 in assistance per family per year.
The $500 limit does not include the use of Food Vouchers. Families needing food vouchers can still request a voucher once every 30 days. The 30 day time period begins when the voucher is used at Food Lion.
To apply for the Community Action Program please mail your completed application to Goochland Department of Social Services.
This program is based on the availability of funding.
