Attention all Goochland Dam Owners: Free Dam Owner Training in-person and virtual is available September 16. in-person space is limited. Please registered early if you are interested. See this flyer for more details. This is a great training opportunity if you a question about your dam, maintenance practices or any regulation questions. This training is sponsored by the Virginia Lakes and Watershed Association (VLWA), which is a volunteer organization, and its mission is to provide education on water resources in Virginia. 

Dam Owner Training for Virginia Dam Owners

 FREE TRAINING EVENT IN PERSON and on ZOOM 

The class will be held at the Blacksburg Community Center 

725 Patrick Henry Dr., Blacksburg, Virginia 24060 

Saturday – September 16, 2023 - 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Dam Safety is one of those important water resource areas and VLWA is sponsoring this event. On Saturday September 16, 2023, the VLWA Dam Safety Committee will present a free Dam Owner Training session. If you have questions about your dam, Dam Safety Operation and Maintenance practices, dam engineering studies and designs, or the VA DCR Dam Safety regulations then we encourage you to sign up for this event. Several Dam Safety professionals from Virginia engineering firms that are actively working on Virginia dams will provide educational sessions on all aspects of the operation and maintenance of dams in Virginia and the regulations that govern them. 

If you cannot attend, please forward this to someone that can attend on behalf of your dam and also to other dam owners that may not be included above so that they may benefit from this informative class. 

Registration and Questions

Please Register indicating your preference to attend in person or via ZOOM as physical space is limited. You must register with an email to our Dam Safety Committee chairman, David Krisnitski at: Dkrisnitski@amtengineering.com and VLWA will email information for attending in person and instructions on how to log in via ZOOM conferencing along with some additional class information. 

You are encouraged to send questions in advance of the event to Tom Roberts at his email address:  Tomroberts@h2r-inc.com and Tom requests that you indicate in the subject line “Question for Dam Owner Training”. A method for asking questions during the event will be provided to registered attendees with the agenda and the ZOOM invitation. Attendees will not need computer cameras and microphones, but this event may be viewed on your computer screen with your computer’s speakers.
