[ARCHIVED] First On The Scene (FOTS) Training is Coming to a Goochland Fire-Rescue Station Near You

FREE First On The Scene Training Coming to a Fire-Rescue Station Near You

Goochland County Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services is excited to announce FREE First on the Scene (FOTS) training will be coming to a fire-rescue station near you starting in October 2023.  The FOTS training is being brought to the Goochland Community through a partnership with VCU Health and is open to the entire community. The 4-hour course provides the general public with basic emergency response to life-threatening emergencies until EMS arrives on the scene. A few key lessons include activating the 9-1-1 system, hands-only CPR and AED, Narcan Administration, Epi Administration, responding to life-threatening bleeding, and more.

The first FOTS classes offered in Goochland were in June for county employees and Goochland Parks and Recreation staff, in advance of the 2023 Summer Camps.   Goochland County and Goochland Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services are thankful for the partnership with VCU Health that is allowing these classes to occur.
