Goochland County Economic Development is excited to highlight Governor Youngkin’s announcement of Strickland Manufacturing’s expansion in Goochland County on Thursday, March 6th. Strickland Manufacturing will invest over $3 million to build a new office and warehouse, creating 20 new jobs. Goochland County is Strickland Manufacturing’s United States headquarters, with the company based in Northern Ireland, and currently has 45 employees.  

“Goochland County is proud to support existing businesses and is excited that Strickland Manufacturing chose Goochland for its expansion,” said Goochland County Board of Supervisors Chairman Tom Winfree. “Their investment in Goochland County represents quality industrial growth and jobs to support Goochland citizens.” 

Goochland County Economic Development has been working with Strickland on their expansion plans for multiple years, which were delayed due to a fire in their warehouse in May 2023. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Goochland County to support Strickland Manufacturing’s job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provides consultative services and funding to companies creating new jobs in order to support employee recruitment and training activities. As a business incentive supporting economic development, VJIP reduces the human resource costs of new and expanding companies. VJIP is state funded, demonstrating Virginia’s commitment to enhancing job opportunities for citizens.  

In addition to VJIP, Strickland was recently awarded a Small Business Expansion Incentive from the Goochland County Economic Development Authority for their expansion.

By awarding Strickland Manufacturing incentive funds to expand, the Goochland Economic Development Authority is investing in the future of Goochland County”, said Sara Worley, Goochland County’s Economic Development Director.  “Goochland County Economic Development is proud to be supporting existing businesses and their expansions. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and the positive impact they will have on Goochland’s economy.”
