Domestic violence is an intolerable violent crime with public health implications for every person in Goochland County whether a victim/survivor, a family member, significant other, neighbor, employer or co-worker of a victim/survivor.
Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services’ comprehensive domestic violence program addresses domestic violence by providing 24-hour hotline services (804-980-6267), responding to emergency calls, offering support and information, providing case management and counseling, advocating for victims/survivors seeking protective orders, empowering survivors to chart their own course for healing, and facilitating educational trainings and prevention programs.
Ending domestic violence in Goochland County involves active collaboration between Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services, Goochland Commonwealth Attorney’s office, Goochland County Sheriff’ Office, Goochland Victim Witness Program, the 16th District Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Services Unit, Goochland Department of Social Services, and other regional partners.
The Goochland County Board of Supervisors proclaims the month of October 2017 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Goochland County.
