[ARCHIVED] Goochland County Operational Status Post Tropical Storm Michael

Goochland County - Operational Status Post Tropical Storm Michael

As of Noon, on Friday, October 12th over 2,500 Dominion Energy Virginia customers are without service.  Dominion Energy Virginia asks that you help with recovery from the damage Tropical Storm Michael left in its path by doing two important things:

  1. Report outages! Don’t assume they know you are without power. Use your mobile device and go to http://spr.ly/6184Dftoe or call us at 1-866-DOM-HELP.
  2. Stay away from downed power lines. Assume they are energized and dangerous. Keep family, neighbors and pets a minimum of 30 feet away and call them at 1-866-DOM-HELP. Choose the option to report a downed wire.

The County Administration building located at 1800 Sandy Hook Rd. is open for business with limited capacity till 5 p.m., operating under generator power.  County facilities that are closed due to the widespread power outage include the Central High School Cultural and Educational Complex, the Goochland Sports Complex, and the Goochland County Animal Shelter.

All Goochland County Parks & Recreation programs and activities are cancelled Friday, October 12th through Sunday, October 14th.  The Central High School Cultural and Educational Complex and Goochland Sports Complex will remain closed through Sunday, October 14th.  All athletic fields are closed through the weekend as well.  Tucker Park at Maidens Crossing will be monitored for flooding and closing may be necessary.

The Goochland County Animal Shelter will be closed to the public from Friday, October 12th through Tuesday, October 16th.

Goochland County will waive residents’ fees for brush disposal at both the Central and Western Convenience Centers through Friday, October 19th, to give residents time to cleanup and recover from last night’s storm.

Both convenience centers will operate on normal business hours beginning Friday, October 12th.  The Central Convenience Center is currently without power and may potentially stop accepting trash if the compactors become full.  The Western Convenience Center has power and is operating normally.  Locations and hours:
