To reduce congestion and add lane capacity, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will suspend most highway construction and maintenance work zones on interstates and other roads over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Lane closures will be lifted from noon Friday, May 24, 2019 to noon Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
Five projects are planned that will impact travel in and to Goochland County. The full list of projects including other localities is available via the link below.
Route 288 south from I-64 (mm 31) – mm 21 - Pothole patching - May 21
There will be alternating lanes closed on Route 288 south from I-64 (mile marker 31) – mile marker 21 from 8:30 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. May 21 for pothole patching.
I-64 east between Shannon Hill Rd. (mm 148) - Powhite Pkwy/I-195 (mm 186) - Pothole patching - May 21
There will be alternating lanes closed on I-64 east between Shannon Hill Rd. (mile marker 148) - Powhite Pkwy/I-195 (mile marker 186) from 8:30 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. May 21 for pothole patching.
I-64 east between mms 147-156 - Paving - May 17 - 24
There will be alternating lanes/ramps closed at I-64 east between mile markers 147 - 156 from 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. May 17 - 24 for paving.
Sandy Hook Rd. (Rt. 522) between Poorhouse Rd. and Mill Trace Ln. - Paving - May 18
There will be alternating lanes closed on Sandy Hook Rd. (Rt. 522) between Poorhouse Rd. and Mill Trace Ln. from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. May 18 for paving.
River Rd. (Rt. 6) between Stone Mill Dr. to Rt. 1068 - Paving - May 20 - 23
There will be alternating lanes closed on River Rd. (Rt. 6) between Stone Mill Dr. to Rt. 1068 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. May 20 - 23 for paving.
