[ARCHIVED] Goochland Child Check - FREE Preschool Developmental Screenings Goochland County Residents

Goochland Child Check - 10-28-19

On Monday, October 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. free Preschool Developmental Screenings for children birth to 5 years will be available for Goochland County residents.

Goochland County Public Schools and Goochland-Powhatan Community Services Parent Infant Education Program partner every year to offer developmental screenings for county residents.  On these dates, families can bring their children to the Goochland Preschool facility to find out more about their children’s development and school readiness.  The screening staff includes preschool teachers with specialized developmental training; speech-language pathologists for screening speech-language skills and hearing; and other specialists who assist with different aspects of the screenings.  Vision and hearing screenings are available on the Child Check dates, but not available for appointments on later dates.

The screenings will take place at Goochland Preschool on the upper level of the "Goochland Tech" building next to Goochland Elementary School at 3140 River Road West.  The entrance is located behind the building near the fenced blacktop and playground.

Find out how your child is doing in these areas of growth:

  • Hearing and Vision
  • Speech/Language Skills
  • Motor and Self-Help Skills
  • Concepts and Thinking Skills
  • Personal-Social Skills

If families are unable to attend these dates, they are encouraged to schedule an appointment for another date.

For more information about the screenings and programs or to schedule an appointment for another date, please call Jeanine Vassar, Goochland-Powhatan Community Services’ Infant-Toddler Connection at (804) 657-2010 or Wendy Travis, Goochland County Public Schools Preschool at (804) 556-5321 ext. 3209.
