Governor Ralph Northam has issued an executive order Effective May 29, 2020, and until further notice, requiring patrons to wear a mask or face covering while entering, exiting, traveling through, and spending time inside multiple settings including businesses and state and local buildings.

Face coverings now required inside all Goochland County Buildings

Accordingly, effective May 29, 2020, patrons aged ten and over entering all County Buildings shall wear a facial covering over the nose and mouth. Children over the age of two are strongly encouraged, but not required, to wear a facial covering.  If you do not have a face covering, please request one from the department or office you will be visiting.

Goochland County will honor these identified exceptions for patrons:

  • while eating and drinking
  • while exercising
  • any person who has trouble breathing, or incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the face covering without assistance
  • any person seeking to communicate with a hearing-impaired person, for which the mouth needs to be visible
  • any person with a health condition that keeps them from wearing a face covering.

Forward Virginia Phase One – Goochland County Facilities Remain Closed to Public

Under the Forward Virginia Phase One Goochland County facilities remain closed to the public.  The county maintains a centralized drop-off on the Sandy Hook Rd. (Rt. 522) side of the Administration  building where citizens and guests can drop off county correspondence, community development applications, submittals and plans. 

Citizens and guests can engage with staff by appointment only.  This includes face to face meetings and/or drop off and pick up service.  All non-employee attendees are to be escorted to and from entrance doors by the department representative associated with the meeting.

All patrons aged ten and over entering all County Buildings shall wear a facial covering over the nose and mouth.  If you do not have a face covering, please request one from the department you will be visiting.

Executive Order Sixty-Three and Order of Public Health Emergency Five from Governor Ralph Northam orders that all patrons in the Commonwealth aged ten and over shall wear a face mask or facial covering when entering, exiting, traveling through, and spending time in the following public settings:

  • Personal care and grooming businesses
  • Essential and non-essential brick and mortar retail including grocery stores and pharmacies
  • Food and beverage establishments
  • Entertainment or public amusement establishments when permitted to open
  • Train stations, bus stations, and on intrastate public transportation, including in waiting or congregating areas
  • State and local government buildings and areas where the public accesses services
  • Any indoor space shared by groups of people who may congregate within six feet of one another or who are in close proximity to each other for more than ten minutes

Exemptions to these guidelines include:

  • while eating and drinking at a food and beverage establishment
  • individuals who are exercising
  • children under the age of two
  • a person seeking to communicate with a hearing-impaired person, for which the mouth needs to be visible
  • anyone with a health condition that keeps them from wearing a face covering. Children over the age of two are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering to the extent possible.
