Goochland County was recognized recently for technology engagement of its citizens and employees through two 2016 awards, the Digital Counties Survey award from the Center for Digital Government and the Governor's Technology Award. Goochland County ranked 7th in the category of populations up to 150,000 for the Digital Counties Survey and Best Citizen Portal for the Governor's Award. These also confirm the County's commitment to engagement and transparency. The County prides itself on citizens' access to information on their local government.
These awards are an important acknowledgement of Goochland County's use of technology to improve citizen services and organizational efficiency. The use of such technologies as Office 365, mobile solutions for the workforce, online mapping, dedication toward broadband infrastructure and the County's new web portal are the areas that contributed to Goochland's recognition of being a top 10 Digital County and Governor's award receipient.
