[ARCHIVED] Broad Street Rd. (Rt. 250) Closed near Shannon Hill Rd. (Rt. 605) Due to Pipe Failure

VDOT Traffic Alert

Motorist should expect an extended CLOSURE of Broad Street Rd. (Route 250) in Goochland County between Whitesel Rd. (Rt. 604) and Shannon Hill Rd. (Rt. 605) due to a pipe failure.

Traffic is being detoured via the route below:

  • Eastbound Broad Street Rd. (Rt. 250): Take Whitesel Rd. (Rt.604) east to Three Chopt Rd. (Rt. 653) south to Shannon Hill Rd. (Rt. 605) south back to Broad Street Rd. (Rt. 250).
  • Westbound Broad Street Rd. (Rt. 250): Take Shannon Hill Rd. (Rt. 605) north to Three Chopt Rd. (Rt. 653) north to Whitesel Rd. (Rt. 604) west back to Broad Street Rd. (Rt. 250).

Before the new pipe can be set in place, the damaged pipe must be dug out and removed. That will require excavating the soil above and around the pipe which sits several feet below the road. After removing the pipe, crews will install the new pipe, backfill and repave the road.

It is anticipated that Broad Street Rd. will likely remain closed until December 22nd.
