There is a lot happening at Goochland County Parks and Recreation! Between special events, fitness, art, and kids programs, there is something for everyone! Don't forget to register for youth basketball! 




Zumba

Zumba is a dance fitness format that will include pop, hip hop, and international music with dance rhythms that incorporate interval exercises. These dances will help you tone target areas on your body and absolutely increase your confidence as this class is a judgment free zone. This party is for everyone regardless of their fitness level. The goal is to have fun and keep moving!

Acrylic Pour Paint Class for Adults

There is nothing more satisfying than creating abstract masterpieces while letting paint and gravity take control. In this class you will learn about color blending, paint:medium ratios, and different pouring styles to create your own fluid masterpiece.

Acrylic Painting for Adults

Do you want to learn the basics of acrylic painting? Join Bee Kreative to learn how to paint with acrylic paints to create a seasonal work of art n a relaxed environment. Don't know how to paint? That's ok! This class is stress free with step by step instructions. Aprons and all materials are provided.

Beginning Ballet & Creative Movement

Beginning Ballet and Creative Movement teaches young dancers balance, coordination, basic dance technique, and classroom etiquette. Students will work on leaps, turns, flexibility and rhythm, using fun music and games. Dancers should wear a leotard, tights, or dance pants and ballet shoes.

Campfire at the Park! - Stargazing

Everyone gather 'round the fire! Join us each month for s'mores and different activities great for families with young children. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga incorporates poses, breathing, and deep relaxation. Participants should bring their own mat. You can choose to take one or two days a week.

Pickin' Around

Pickin' Around is back! Bring your stringed instrument of choice out to Central High Cultural and Educational Complex and play some music! Beginning September 25th, the CHS Eagle Theater will be open the last Saturday of each month for local musicians to come meet new players and learn new songs. All experience levels are welcome and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Karate

Students will learn techniques including kicking, punching, blocking, sparring and partner work. Emphasis is on philosophy and discipline of the martial arts to increase students self-confidence and physical condition. This challenging program is for ages 7 through adults and will help participants lead a healthier life. ($25 one time Karate association fee taken at door for first time students.) You can choose to take one or two days a week.

Paranormal Lockdown at Central High

Want to learn about paranormal activity? Come join Goochland Parks and Recreation along with Flumeri Promotions as they teach about paranormal investigation at Central Cultural and Educational Complex, formally known as Central High! There will be a paranormal seminar, meet and greet with April Busset, equipment for purchase, and best of all, it's an overnight event! This event is for ages 18+ This is a stay up all night event, but you are welcome to bring a sleeping bag if you would like.

Introduction to Tricks for Dogs

In this class teams will be introduced to trick training methods and fun ways to interact with their dogs. The focus will be on novice and intermediate tricks, applicable through both the AKC tricks program and Do More With Your Dog trick program. Teams can be tested and earn trick titles over the course of the session, as they are able and ready to do so. Class will be held at Central Cultural and Educational Complex.

Latin Ballet of Virginia- Fiesta Del Sol

The Latin Ballet of Virginia will present "Fiesta Del Sol", a performance celebrating the rhythms that influenced the music, dance, and history of Latino America. "Fiesta Del Sol" honors the native essence of Hispanic culture, demonstrating the great Native American, Spanish, and African influences that transformed Latino American culture into what it is today.

Strength Training

Come work on building your strength! This class is for ages 12+ and is for anyone looking for a way to get into, or returning to, the world of fitness.  Each session is for two days a week.

Mondays-Thursdays, Saturdays       October 25-December 29      6:00-7:00pm    $45    CHS Gym Classroom   Ages 13+


Introduction to Brazilian Jiujitsu

This class will introduce you the fundamentals of the fastest growing and most effective martial art, Brazilian Jiujitsu. With a focus on self-defense and practical applications, students will finish this 12-week program with an understanding of the gentle art. Participants need to purchase a Gi and white belt. This class is free for Law Enforcement and First Responders. Please register in the Parks and Recreation office and present your ID.

KumaCon

Join us for a day of anime, comics, manga, cosplay, games, contests and more! This convention will be complete with both live and virtual panels, cosplay contests, raffles, tabletop gaming, a fully stocked vendor room, food trucks and an anime café to sit and enjoy your snacks, treats and meals! Come celebrate with us as we introduce the very first convention of it’s kind right here in Goochland County! We hope to see you there!
