Just after mid-night on Friday, October 8th at 00:15 hours, Goochland County Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services responded to Dover Branch Lane for a house fire in eastern Goochland.

The first fire unit arrived on the scene at 00:22 hours reporting heavy fire conditions estimating 70% involvement of a large two-story single-family dwelling with an attached garage.  First arriving crews initiated a defensive attack with hand lines that quickly transitioned to an elevated aerial ladder master stream operation.  The home is in an area of eastern Goochland County that does not have fire hydrants in the neighborhood.  Fire crews initiated a rural water supply operation and tankers shuttled water from two nearby fire hydrants approximately a mile from the scene. Crews estimate approximately 112,000 gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire.
