The 2021 November General Election is less than a week away and Goochland County and Goochland County’s Office of the General Registrar wanted to share important 2021 Election reminders.
The November General Election will be held on November 2, 2021. All Precincts will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you are in line at 7 p.m. you will be allowed to vote. Here are some helpful reminders for the 2021 November General Election.
Last Day to Vote Early is Saturday, October 30
Virginia no longer requires a reason to vote absentee. Goochland County’s Voter Satellite Office is open for in-person absentee early voting Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Voter Satellite Office will also be open on Saturday, October 30 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30 is the last day to vote early.
The Voter Satellite Office is located inside Goochland County Parks and Recreation’s Goochland Sports Complex building at 1800 Sandy Hook Rd., Goochland, VA 23063.
Know Where You Vote.
You can check where you vote using the citizen portal at the Department of Elections website here: https://www.elections.virginia.gov/citizen-portal/. You have to vote at your designated polling place. If you go to the wrong polling place you will be directed to the correct polling place which will lead to delays.
Voters are reminded about changes to three precinct polling place locations this year that only affect voters in District 1 and District 3 and involve the 0101-Fife, 0301-Goochland Courthouse 1, and 0302-Goochland Courthouse 2 Precincts. For more information on these changes please see the post at this link - https://www.goochlandva.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=708.
Returning Your Ballot
Voters can return voted ballots through three different methods: By mail, to drop off locations at the Office of the General Registrar or the Voter Satellite Office and drop off ballots at polling places on Election Day.
Voted ballots can be returned by mail to P.O. Box 1013, Goochland, VA 23063. The last day to post mark a mail-in ballot is November 2, 2021. You can track your ballot using the Ballot Scout Lookup Tool http://v2.ballotscout.org/goochland-county/search.
Ballots can be returned Monday – Friday during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) to a drop off location at the Office of the General Registrar at 1876 Sandy Hook Rd, Goochland, VA 23063 or at the Voter Satellite Office at the Goochland County Sports Complex 1800 Sandy Hook Rd, Goochland, VA 23063. The Voter Satellite Office will also be open to accept ballots on Saturday, October 30 from 9am - 5pm.
Drop off locations will also be available at all polling places on Election Day. Please visit the District Information page (https://www.goochlandva.us/562/District-Information) for a list of polling places addresses. If you are returning your ballot to a polling place on Election Day you do not have to wait in line. Please avoid the line and speak to an Election Official to turn in your voted ballot.
When returning a voted ballot, it must be in the ballot envelope with your name and address written legibly on the envelope and signed by the voter and a witness. Also, please return the ballot and ballot envelope using the return envelope provided by the Office of the General Registrar.
