This award was received for the fourth year in a row, this time for the County’s Fiscal Year 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). It represents the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
According to County Administrator John A. Budesky, “Attainment of the Certificate of Achievement is a noteworthy accomplishment, not all counties get recognized with this award, it demonstrates Goochland County’s ongoing efforts of transparency.”
Judged by an impartial panel, the FY 2016 CAFR meets high standards, which include demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story. The FY 2016 CAFR is posted on the County’s website under annual audits.
Completion of the FY 2016 CAFR was truly a team effort involving the entire County staff and in particular the Treasurer and staff of the Treasurer’s Office, the Commissioner of Revenue, the School Finance Department, Social Services, and the Department of Financial Services.
