[ARCHIVED] Service Restored & Road Open After River Road Water Main Break, Boil Water Notice Still in Effect

River Road Water Main Update - Monday July 31st

Goochland County is providing a Monday, July 31st update on restoration efforts for the water main break that occurred along River Road in eastern Goochland overnight, Saturday, July 29th.  The water main break has impacted Goochland County Public Utilities customers in the subdivisions of Randolph Square, Lower Tuckahoe, and Wickham Glen.

A Public Utilities contractor completed repairs to the River Road water main and service was restored as of 8:30 pm on Sunday, July 30th.  Water pressure in the system has now returned to normal.  The contractor has completed road restoration efforts and fully RE-OPENED River Road to all traffic at the Goochland-Henrico County line.

A Boil Water Notice issued by Virginia Department of Health, the Goochland County Health Department and Goochland Public Utilities remains in effect for customers in the subdivisions of Randolph Square, Lower Tuckahoe, and Wickham Glen until further notice while Goochland County Public Utilities awaits sampling results. The Boil Water Notice is a safety precaution due to a loss of water pressure.  Residents in these subdivisions are advised to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution.  Failure to follow this advisory could result in stomach or intestinal illness.

Boil Water Notice

Citizens with questions about the boil water notice should consult the Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) Frequently Asked Questions page available at  https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/drinking-water/boil-water-faqs/

The water main break along River Road is an unfortunate result of age and not related to the ongoing Eastern Goochland Force Main capital project occurring in the nearby area.

Goochland County anticipates providing the next update on the water main break on Tuesday, August 1st.  Please stay tuned to Goochland County’s website www.goochlandva.us and social media channels for updates.
