Solar Energy and Energy Storage Facility Ordinance and Policy

Goochland County does have ordinance and policy provisions related to the development of solar energy facilities and energy storage facilities. The Board of Supervisors updated the zoning ordinance on May 2, 2023 to provide for differing types of solar facilities as well as energy storage facilities, Accompanying this ordinance update is the Solar Energy Facility and Energy Storage Facility Policy which provides guidance for zoning related to these facilities in areas such as siting provisions, size, buffering, impact mitigation, land disturbance, and decommissioning.
